What you will do

We are seeking an experienced Tax Director to lead and expand our tax and payments regulation strategy across international markets. This role will support the GEP's broader global tax strategy. The Tax Director will be responsible for optimizing global tax planning, ensuring compliance across multiple jurisdictions, and advising on cross-border transactions. 

 

  • Lead and implement global tax strategies that optimize tax efficiencies for GEP’s growth initiatives.
  • Develop and execute global tax structures to support international expansion in key regions, including Asia, Europe, Africa, and the Americas.
  • Ensure compliance with US federal, state, and local tax regulations, as well as international tax laws.
  • Oversee tax planning for cross-border transactions, transfer pricing, and tax structuring for new entities across diverse regions.
  • Manage compliance for international Money Transmitter Licensing regulations, especially relevant for cross-border payments and transactional activities.
  • Advise on the tax implications of import/export transactions, goods reselling, and customs compliance to streamline international operations.
  • Ensure accurate tax reporting and audit compliance with standards such as ASC 740 and IFRS.
  • Collaborate with finance, legal, and operational teams to align tax strategies with business goals, leveraging technology for automation and efficiency.
  • Manage global tax audits and disputes, working with internal and external tax consultants, auditors, and regulatory bodies.

What you should bring

  • 10+ years of corporate tax experience, with a minimum of 5 years in leadership roles.
  • Extensive expertise in global tax planning, cross-border tax structuring, and transfer pricing.
  • Strong experience managing tax in multi-national organizations with diverse legal entities.
  • Understanding of US tax compliance and regulations, with in-depth knowledge of international tax laws, including OECD guidelines and BEPS.
  • Experience in import/export transactions, cross-border reselling, and international compliance for goods/services transactions.
  • Familiarity with fintech models (e.g., Candex) and tax regulations impacting the cross-border buying and reselling of goods.

Technical Skills:

  • Expertise in tax accounting standards (ASC 740, IFRS) and global tax audits.
  • Strong knowledge of US and international tax laws across key regions (India, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, China, Europe, Africa, and the Americas).
  • Familiarity with indirect taxes such as VAT/GST across various jurisdictions.

Leadership & Communication:

  • Proven leadership in managing international tax teams and collaborating across departments.
  • Strong ability to communicate complex tax strategies to non-expert stakeholders and senior management.
  • Experience managing relationships with external tax advisors and consultants.

Strategic & Analytical Skills:

  • Ability to align tax strategies with business objectives and expansion plans.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills to navigate multi-jurisdictional tax challenges.
