What you will do

As a Sourcing Lead – Logistics Procurement, you will play a key role in managing end-to-end procurement activities across logistics categories, including freight (road, air, ocean, rail), warehousing, last-mile delivery, and distribution services. You will develop sourcing strategies, negotiate supplier agreements, and drive cost optimization while ensuring service excellence. This role requires a strong understanding of the logistics market, supplier management, and strategic sourcing best practices.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Sourcing & Category Management:
    • Develop and execute sourcing strategies for logistics categories, ensuring alignment with client objectives.
    • Conduct market research and benchmarking to identify cost-saving opportunities and supplier innovations.
    • Lead RFX (RFI, RFP, RFQ) processes, supplier evaluations, and negotiations.
  • Supplier & Contract Management:
    • Identify, evaluate, and onboard logistics service providers to enhance supply chain efficiency.
    • Negotiate contracts, SLAs, and performance metrics to ensure optimal service levels and cost-effectiveness.
    • Build and maintain strong supplier relationships to drive continuous improvement.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration:
    • Work closely with internal and client stakeholders to understand business requirements and ensure procurement strategies align with operational goals.
    • Partner with finance, operations, and legal teams to drive contract compliance and risk mitigation.
  • Operational & Performance Excellence:
    • Track and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess supplier performance and procurement effectiveness.
    • Implement process improvements to enhance logistics procurement efficiency and reduce costs.
    • Utilize procurement technologies like SMART by GEP®, Coupa, or other ERP systems for data-driven decision-making.
  • Team Leadership & Development:

    • Manage and mentor a team of sourcing professionals, providing strategic direction and performance feedback.
    • Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous learning within the team.
    • Develop training programs and knowledge-sharing initiatives to enhance team capabilities.
  • Market & Industry Insights:
    • Stay updated on market trends, regulatory changes, and technological advancements in logistics and transportation.
    • Provide insights and recommendations to clients on logistics procurement best practices and innovations.

What you should bring

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, or a related field (MBA preferred).
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in logistics procurement, sourcing, or supply chain management.
  • Strong knowledge of logistics categories, supplier landscape, and contract negotiation.
  • Experience with procurement tools such as GEP Smart, Coupa, SAP Ariba, or similar platforms.
  • Excellent analytical, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and drive results in a fast-paced environment.
  • Advanced skills in MS office - Excel, Word, PowerPoint
